Meet Filippo

My Life before Asia

I’m Filippo Rossi, born in Modena, Italy, in 1991. My love for Asia started young, fueled by Japanese anime and video games (thanks, Pikachu!). In my twenties, I turned that passion into action, hopping across the continent whenever I could. Meanwhile, I earned my architecture degree and moved to England to start a career, because Italy wasn’t exactly rolling out the red carpet for young architects.

In 2019, I hit pause on work for a three-month Southeast Asia adventure, and let’s just say I fell head over heels. I landed a job in Vietnam to stay closer to the region, but then the pandemic threw me a curveball, trapping me in London for long three years. Silver lining? I gained loads of experience, though my heart was still in Asia.

When the world reopened, so did my plans. I left London, along with a steady career and a partner I had once envisioned a future with, and swapped my suit for a backpack. It wasn’t easy leaving that life behind, but I dove headfirst into a nomadic journey, soaking up warm weather, culture, and noodles (lots of noodles).

My Life in Asia

My digital nomad life in Asia began in 2022, and it’s been an unforgettable ride: exploring tuk-tuk-filled streets in Thailand, savoring endless bowls of pho in Vietnam, and soaking up the laid-back vibes of Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines. From bustling cities to quiet retreats, each country has offered something unique. There have been a few solo moments, unexpected detours, and occasional travel hiccups, but they’ve only made the adventure more memorable.

I’ve been swept away by stunning landscapes—towering rice terraces, hidden waterfalls, and dreamlike beaches. Along the way, I’ve explored remote Buddhist temples, received a traditional Sak Yant tattoo from a master in a secluded Thai village with no shared language, and trekked rugged mountains. I’ve snorkeled in crystal-clear waters and attempted questionable yoga poses on breathtaking shores.

Each moment, from chasing secret treasures to embracing the unexpected, has been a mix of wonder, discovery, and plenty of memorable laughs.

My Way to Travel

Over time, I discovered my favorite way to travel: on two wheels.
Whether it’s a scooter or a motorbike, this style of exploring gives me total freedom: no bus schedules, no expensive taxis, just the open road and endless possibilities. With the wind in my hair (and the occasional bug in my teeth), I can dive deep into each country and uncover hidden gems that most travelers miss.

Riding isn’t just practical; it’s an adventure. I’ve bought and sold several bikes to cross entire countries and rented others for shorter loops, always discovering new surprises along the way. Each trip brings its own mix of quirky encounters, breathtaking views, and stories I’ll laugh about for years.

Living the Digital Nomad Dream

On the flip side of all the travel, work is what keeps this nomadic life going. Living in Southeast Asia is a dream because my job funds all the adventures. It might look like one big vacation, but I stay on top of things by hunting down good workspaces wherever I go. Wi-Fi is never far, and affordable cafés with tasty meals make it easy to get stuff done. Even budget spots have great internet, comfy seating, and peaceful corners to focus.

Remote islands and mountain villages do throw a few challenges my way, but I always find a place to work, whether it's a café or guesthouse. The peaceful surroundings help me concentrate, and let's be real, working with views of the sea or mountains makes the whole day feel like a bonus.

My Mission

After over two years of non-stop travel, I've found that Bali, and especially Ubud, is the perfect spot to hit pause and recharge between adventures. The "Island of Gods" has truly become my home base, with its spiritual vibes in every corner and all the comforts that make life here both easy and connected. I’ve spent months diving into the island's hidden treasures and stunning nature, particularly in the less-explored northern areas.

Looking ahead, while continuing my work as a freelance architect, I’d love to help others plan epic trips and guide them through some of Southeast Asia’s most mind-blowing spots. So, what are you waiting for? Let’s make your dream journey a reality!
